Paul William Ewald

I am a ecologist and evolutionary biologist and have spent most of my career integrating evolutionary biology with the health sciences. Holly and I are currently working to develop a general evolutionary theory of cancer. We recently published a short (hopefully generally accessible) TED e-book on the first stage of this work, called Controlling Cancer. A tome is forthcoming.

I spent 20 years on the faculty of Amherst College before moving to the Univeristy of Louisville in 2002 to develop a program on disease evolution. After New Trier I received at Bachelors from UCIrvine and a PhD from U. of Washington and did postdoctoral work at the University of Michigan and the University of London.
