Moved to Arizona for grad school right after college, met Erin on the first day of classes in 1975, and we've been together ever since. We left Phoenix for Seattle in 1986, where for the next 27 years I worked for the Battelle Memorial Institute (non-profit R&D) doing environmental health research and, eventually, research administration. Erin was at the University of Washington's Burke Museum, first as a curator and then as associate director. Our daughter arrived in 1989; she is now on the faculty of American University in philosophy and religious studies. We moved to DC at the beginning of 2013 for this post with the American Anthropological Association, and Erin is at the Smithsonian. The bonus for us is being near Nabina and her spouse, although we miss the Pacific Northwest and try to get back there when we can.
