John (Jack) McLean

Jack (John) McLean passed away on February 20, 2017 with his wife Alice by his side. Jack was born on February 28, 1953 in Evanston to John and Louise McLean of Wilmette, Illinois. He graduated from New Trier East High School in 1971 and from National College of Education in 1975.

Jack began his lifelong career as a bronze sculptor in 1977. He and Alice married in 1978, his beloved children, Jesse and Chloe, were born in 1980 and 1983, and his grandchildren (the shining lights of his last four years) Arya and Luke were born in 2012 and 2014.

Jack supported his family for 40 years solely through the sale of his artwork. He exhibited extensively nationally and internationally, and his work is included in public, corporate and private collections throughout the country. He was primarily self taught in the process of welded bronze constructions, and became a master of applying hot process patinas to his bronze sculpture.

Jack lived his life dedicated to his family and to his artwork.

Jack leaves Alice, son Jesse McLean of Los Angeles, daughter Chloe (Robert) Wysocki and grandchildren Arya and Luke of Crystal Lake, sister Joan (McLean) Wallace of Phoenix, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country, and many flexible yoga students.
