It’s with indescribable sadness that I inform you that Jennifer died just after 6:00 p.m. yesterday, March 30, 2026. In the nearly ten months since she was diagnosed with cancer, she kept her spirits up and fought it the best way she could, but it all simply overcame her yesterday. It was the hardest day she had but at the end, she was in no pain and at peace. Her brother Neil, son Hank and I were with her when she passed. Her two other sons and her sister are on their way here today.
Please excuse this impersonal mode of communication, but there are a lot of people to contact. We loved each other very much and I miss her terribly already.
Say a prayer, raise a glass, send a good thought and hope that her journey across the river is an easy one and that there’s a garden to work in and a kitchen with a good stove and plenty of pots and pans.

Ed,
So sorry for your loss. The pain of losing our most cherished loved one cuts down to the core of who we are. And that pain can seem unbearable. At these times we discover for ourselves a universal human truth, that grief and love are inseparable, flipsides of the same emotion. For the weight of our grief is the measure of the depth of our love. Hold onto the truth that your Jennifer will continue to feel your love everyday.

I'm broken up to read this. Jennifer was a good friend in high school and always since. Though we hadn't talked in years, she's often in my thoughts. I remember when she told me, all excited, how you, Ed, and she were going to get married. It was funny, since you and I never got along. High school!
I'm sorry I didn't know she was sick. She was a beautiful woman, very sweet and real.
