DAVID SLOAN-ROSSITER OBITUARY

SLOAN-ROSSITER, David J. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend, passed away at his home in Westwood. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan; his sons, Michael and Kyle; daughters-in-law, Caroline (nee Bennett) and Danielle Zion; his four grandchildren, his seven surviving siblings - Anne, Catherine (Kirk Tolhurst), Chuck (Ellen Bartlett), Mary (Stephen Pike), Tom, Jim (Laura), and John (Nancye); his in-laws, Wendy Sloan (Johnathan Chasan), Nancy Sloan (Larry Brown); and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Terry Rossiter (nee Pfeiffer); and his older brother, Bill. David was born in Cleveland, raised in Midland, MI, and later in Glencoe, IL. He attended New Trier High School and earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern. David completed his psychology residency at Beth Israel Hospital and had a successful private practice in Brookline. He was active as a teacher and community member at BIP, MIP, and MAPP. David was known for his capacity to engage deeply with others and had a large circle of friends. He was a voracious reader, loved the outdoors, fishing, and had a particular passion for golf. He played at least weekly, and had seven holes in one. He was happiest walking his dogs in the woods and spending time with his family. David leaves a legacy of impact through his relationships. He was a pillar of his community in the truest sense - helping family and friends during their most challenging times.
