Stephen Cornell

Stephen Charles Cornell, 61, of Marion, Iowa died Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a lengthy illness.

 

Steve was born February 8, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Charles Russell and Caroline Winifred (Ollerenshaw) Cornell. After moving to the U.S. in his teens, Steve completed high school in the Chicago area. He later married Evy Cornell.

 

Steve worked over twenty years as a PACE bus driver in the Chicago suburbs. He was a union officer for the PACE bus company. Steve lived in the Chicago area until 2005, when he moved to Iowa. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed James Joyce and Carl Jung especially. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skeet shooting. Steve took great pride in his roles as husband and step-father, and will be fondly remembered as a great brother.

 

He is survived by three step-children: Erik Bartz of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Karin Bartz of Northfield, Illinois; and Anne Davenport of Grayslake, Illinois; and four siblings: Louise Cornell of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Rod Cornell of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Clint Cornell and Shane Cornell, both of Marion, Iowa.

 

Steve was preceded in death by his wife Evy in 2005; and his parents.
