Kim Kolflat

Kim was born July 9th 1953 in Waukegan, Illinois. He was raised in Wilmette and Winnetka. He studied nuclear engineering at Purdue University and Computer Sciences at Northwestern University. Kim was promoted the youngest vice-president in the history of General Finance Evanston Illinois. Kim married Catherine Seon December 19th 1982 and settled in Glenview, IL. Kim founded Hi-Tech Direct a very successful computer processing company with his partner Bill Wheeler in the 90’s. Kim retired early to enjoy the fruits of his hard work. He kept busy investing in business ventures such as Gusto restaurant and Pata Negra Spanish gourmet ham. An avid world traveler (a United Airlines 2K member) he also enjoyed golfing, boating on Valley Lo Lake, socializing with good friends, watching sports, and especially keeping alive his Norwegians roots. Kim loved to travel to Norway, France and Maui. He was spending as much time as possible visiting friends and family there. Kim also enjoyed music. He was a gifted piano player and occasional song writer. Kim was generous to a fault, a great friend and he was loved by all. The world is a lesser place without him. Kim is survived by his wife Catherine, his mother Luetta Robertson Johnston, his step-father Johnny Johnston, his brother Leif (Bobbie), his sisters Karen (Harvey) and Gail (Stephen), his nephews and nieces.
