Mary R. Olson (Clark)

Attended New Trier East

Mary passed away January 25th, 2010 and is survived by her husband, James Clark, who graduated from New Trier East in 1969. Here is what James submitted to our site:

"We were married in 1977 at St. Joe's in Wilmette. We honeymooned in Orlando and moved here [Orlando]  in 1979. Mary was a computer programmer. She was cursed with multiple sclerosis about fifteen years ago. She was totally bedridden for the last eight years as she was unable to move. She passed away on January 25th , 2010 after suffering a massive heart attack due to her weakened condition by the m.s. She was never in any pain and passed away peacefully. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Olson 91, and three sisters. Kathy Smith of Schaumburg, Terri Strouse of Naperville and Jennifer Sterns of Mundelein. All of us went to New Trier East!

Mary and I were the best of friends at St. Joe's, and there were very few of us who went on to public high school.  The only class we were in together was Work Experience, and we often rode to work together in the afternoons.  I always felt comfortable with Mary, and never felt like I had to impress her.  She was a good person, and although we went our separate ways, I've always held on to fond memories of her.
