I met Bob at U of I. We were both freshman, from Wilmette and lived in "Unit One".  Bob was a wonderful friend to me. I miss him and think of the matzo brei that he made me and all the late night discussions about politics, music, photography, books...he was a gem and to this day, I still think of his red curly hair and friendly smile!  Love you Bob, Eileen

There is indeed a scholarship:  the Robert H. Wieder Award at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, the school from which Bob earned a Master’s Degree in 1976.  Every year one or more Medill graduate students are given scholarships based upon character and citizenship, coupled with journalistic promise and integrity – the qualities that distinguished Bob Wieder.

In recent years, in addition to those qualifications, the scholarships have been given to students who have financial need.

The scholarship fund was started shortly after Bob's death with many small contributions from  Bob's friends from New Trier, from the University of Illinois, and from Medill, in cooperation with his family.
