I remember Ron from grade school and the reunion we had for Central School about a decade ago. He was a gentle giant who was caring and a friend. I will miss him and I'm certain others who ever came in contact with will as well. Best to his family and loved ones. He will be missed.
Ron and I became friends when I got my first job in 1970 at the Jewel Food Store in Winnetka, where we worked together in the produce department. He was a great guy, good-hearted, and fun, and stayed that way to the end. We stayed in touch through the years, and we talked while he was in the hospital during his final illness. I will miss him always.
I'll never forget playing hockey with Rich Olson and Ron. He was a heck of a player and tons of fun. We called him the "Crease Bomber" because he would get about 3 feet from the opposition goal and try to take a slap shot :). Great guy
I remember, as a kid, going to his house for a playdate. His idea of fun was to play a tape recording he made of a play-by-play narrative of a recent Blackhawks hockey game.
Flash forward to our 30th reunion, and there he is, wearing a Blackhawks jersey, which he put on in the taxi on the way to the event.
I remember playing that game at Santa's Village in Elk Grove. We left around 4:30 to 5:00 am and Ron's comment in the car was God's not even up at this hour. It's true, Ron would take slapshot's at the goalie from very close in. I think his stick on the follow through would hit the goalie before the puck.

Here's to continuity.
Sorry to hear he's gone.
